Upon Arrival – at the Airport

Once you land in Japan, you will first have to clear the COVID formalities.

At the time of writing, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, new entry from all countries/regions have been banned.

However, prior to the suspension, the protocol was as follow – Note that it is likely to evolve over the coming months:

  1. You will be asked to take another Test upon arrival (before boarding, you would have already presented a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 72 hours prior to travel).
  2. Under normal conditions, it takes about 90 minutes to receive the test result, but it may well take longer (up to 3 hours have been reported).
  3. Once discharged from the testing centre, you may proceed to immigration, luggage collection and customs.

After clearing customs, you will be exiting in the Arrival Hall.

In case you have booked a Private Airport Transfer – which is highly recommended, especially if you travel with several pieces of luggage, your private English Speaking Driver will be waiting for you just after the Arrival Gate, holding a sign with your name on it.

If you arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport – NRT (actually located in Chiba Prefecture), the trip takes about 90 minutes by car or train to your hotel in the centre of Tokyo. From Tokyo Haneda – HND, located closer to the city, it will take about 35-45 minutes only (depending on traffic conditions).

If you arrive at Kansai International Airport – KIX, you will be about 60 min from Osaka city centre and about 90 minutes drive to Kyoto city.

Welcome to Japan!
