【Ebisu】The Westin Tokyo – Comfortable stay with highly satisfactory breakfast buffet and club lounge

Accommodation

The Westin Tokyo will celebrate its 30th anniversary in October 2024. In preparation for this memorable occasion, the hotel underwent a large-scale renovation for the first time since its opening in October 2023, and held its grand opening on December 4, 2024.

I have recently stayed at the Westin Tokyo, which has undergone such a rebirth!

The Westin Tokyo

The Westin Tokyo opened on October 14, 1994 in Yebisu Garden Place, a complex built on the site of the former Sapporo Beer Ebisu factory.

The renewal concept for the 30th anniversary was “Heritage and Reinvigoration.”

As a “wellness hotel in the city,” they aim to provide a unique stay for each guest with diverse values by evolving further into the future while inheriting what is valuable as a hotel built in Ebisu, Tokyo.

The design was created by NOMURA, which has worked on hotels and luxury brands in Japan and abroad, and by A.N.D., a design team that specializes in creating high quality spaces with an attention to detail.

“A.N.D.” is the team behind ‘The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu’ and ‘TIAD, AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION,’ both of which have been previously featured on this blog.

The new design inherits the existing authentic Western aesthetic, while incorporating designs inspired by the history and original landscape of the Ebisu area, creating a space that expresses “Modern Heritage.”

The motif is the “original landscape” of Ebisu, with its rich water veins, abundant greenery in the neighborhood, and the Yebisu Beer Factory, from which the name “Ebisu” is derived. By harmonizing elements that evoke the richness of nature with a sense of dignity, they hope to bring freshness and healing, as well as surprise and discovery, to the guests.

Access

The Westin Tokyo is recommended to be accessed from JR Ebisu Station via the Ebisu Skywalk. It takes about 7 minutes on foot. The hotel is located further down Yebisu Garden Place after passing through the Ebisu Skywalk.

Guest Room

This time we stayed in a standard type room (42 square meters). The natural-colored European modern interior design makes you feel at home.

Double Room (Twin Bed)
Tokyo Tower could be seen from the window of the room.

Marble bathroom. The shower booth and bathtub are a little far apart, which I personally found a bit difficult to use.

The loungewear was yukata.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at THE TERRACE, an all-day dining restaurant on the first floor.

The buffet menu is one of the best I’ve ever stayed at, and my stomach wants five times as much as I do. There are so many things I want to eat that I usually ask for egg dishes, but this time I didn’t.

There was also a service where you could have your favorite noodle made. You can have tantanmen or pho made with your choice of noodles (Chinese noodles, shirataki, or rice noodles). I had tantanmen made with Chinese noodles. There are many toppings available, so you can add your favorite ingredients. This tantanmen was so delicious that I had to have a second helping.

You can choose your favorite ingredients and have your onigiri (rice ball) made right in front of you. We were also able to request that the rice balls be made smaller so that they would be easier for the children to eat.

Club Lounge (Westin Club)

Well, after checking in, I decided to relax in my room and immediately came to the “Westin Club” on the 22nd floor. This is a club lounge for guests staying on executive floors and suites.

A relaxing space where you can enjoy sweets and drinks while enjoying the view of Tokyo from the top floor of the hotel. The space is more spacious than expected, and each seat is arranged in a comfortable and relaxing manner. The new space is said to be three times larger than the previous one.

From the window seat, we could see the Tokyo Tower.

Soft Drink Service: 10:30AM – 2:00PM
Afternoon Tea: 2:00PM – 4:00PM
Evening Cocktail: 5:00PM – 9:00PM (*Variation may vary depending on the day / No admission for children under 13 years old)

Afternoon Tea

When I arrived, it was just time for “afternoon tea”. Snacks, fruits and sweets were laid out on the buffet table.

Evening Cocktail

Unfortunately, children were not allowed during “Evening Cocktails.” A couple of us took turns to go and have a little look around. I found that the food was so good that I could have had a simple dinner here. Beer, wine, and cocktails were also available, and I would have liked to relax, but I had my family waiting, so I quickly left.

I was so glad to be backed up, but what made me happy was that we were provided with snack bags with drinks and snacks for our waiting family members. I really appreciated it! We were able to enjoy beer (Yebisu!) and white wine without hesitation, and had them in our room with room service dinner.

Snack bags contained snacks and chocolates!

Breakfast

I also wanted to see the breakfast in the Club Lounge…this is my second breakfast. Of course, the restaurant has a much larger selection of items than the lounge, but there are enough items for a light breakfast in the lounge. There were some items on the menu that I couldn’t find in the restaurant.

The Westin Club was so extensive that I ate all the time during my stay at the hotel.

The Westin Club scores a 100 on the satisfaction scale! The hotel itself is nice and sophisticated, but having lounge access takes the happiness level up a few notches!

Finally, we went to “Patisserie by Westin Tokyo” to buy their signature cream puffs as souvenirs. It is a very popular item and is said to be sold out in the morning at the earliest! I enjoyed the cream puffs after returning home, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the puff pastry was firm and filled with cream, which explains the popularity of this product.

As a hotel within Yebisu Garden Place, The Westin Tokyo not only allows you to enjoy the stores and restaurants of Yebisu Garden Place, but the hotel also offers a wide variety of restaurant options, including all-day dining, Chinese, Japanese, and teppanyaki. This hotel, where you can even complete your meal within the area, is the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing.

We hope you will try it.
