【Shiba Park】The Prince Park Tower Tokyo – The special seat where you can enjoy Tokyo Tower

Accommodation

Shiba Park, which stretches below Tokyo Tower, was designated as Japan’s first park in 1873, along with Ueno, Asakusa, Fukagawa, and Asukayama. The park contains a condensed history of Japan, from the Shiba-Maruyama burial mound (one of the largest existing forward-rear round burial mounds in Tokyo), which is believed to have been built approximately 1,700 years ago, to the Shiba Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Ieyasu Tokugawa.

Shiba Park is so lush and green that it is hard to believe that it is in the city. You can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall. Shiba Park is a superb spot where you can enjoy the Tokyo Tower and beautiful seasonal scenery at the same time.

The Prince Park Tower Tokyo is located within the park and is surrounded by no buildings, making it a prime location from which to enjoy the Tokyo Tower in all its glory.

Rooms

The hotel, which has 603 rooms and 33 floors, offers five different floor categories, from standard rooms to suites. Even rooms of the same size have different atmospheres depending on the floor category, making it possible to use them according to your preferences and purposes.

Rooms are arranged in a triangle shape with the elevator hall in the center of the atrium surrounding it. Some rooms have a view of Tokyo Tower nearby, while others have a night view of Tokyo’s typical buildings or the Rainbow Bridge. My recommendation is of course the Tokyo Tower side, but the view from the other direction is also wonderful.

Park Twin Room (28.7sqm)

This time I stayed in a “Park Twin Room (Tokyo Tower-side)” in the entry category on the Park Floor (3-18F). Although in the entry category, the room is 28.7 square meters in size, making it a spacious room in which to spend a relaxing stay. As the name suggests, the bed type is a twin. The beds cannot be placed close to each other as bedside tables are placed between them.

The room is bright and soothing with teal green accents. To be honest, the doorbell, switches, outlets, and other parts of the room seemed a bit old, and my first impression was, “Hmmm…” but the comfort of the room made me forget this minor issue. However, the coziness of the room made me forget about such trivial points.

There are no tall buildings around, so you can enjoy an open view in any direction, but the view of Tokyo Tower is what makes this hotel most attractive. To say that you can enjoy this view even when lying in bed is an understatement! Unfortunately, it was cloudy, but Tokyo Tower was clearly visible. Even when it is pouring down with rain, you can still enjoy the view of Tokyo Tower.

I usually like to sleep in a dark room with blackout curtains, but this time I dared to open the curtains…. It was a luxurious time spent while being enchanted by THE TOKYO night view seen through the lace curtains.

Now, in addition to this room type, we will show you several other room types.

Corner King Room (34.4sqm)

These rooms are located on the corner of the Park Floor (Floors 3-18). The corner rooms are located on the Park Floor (3rd-18th floor), so you can enjoy the open view from the windows spreading out in two directions. The bath is a view bath, so you can enjoy bathing with a night view of Tokyo!

Panoramic Twin Room (38.0sqm)

Floors 19-28 have a floor category called Panoramic Floors. The system is such that floor categories above this can only be accessed by a dedicated elevator; it was renovated in June 2017 and the water and bedside areas look very modern.

This is the standard category of the Panoramic Floor, and in addition to twin rooms, a king bed type is also available. Like the Park Floor, teal green is used here and there to create an interior that makes you feel as if you are in a resort hotel even though you are in the heart of the city. The beds face the window, so you can enjoy the scenery even while in bed.

Panoramic Junior Suite Room (50.1sqm)

One-bedroom suites offer a panoramic view of Tokyo as soon as you step inside. These rooms feature large windows. We were shown a twin room, but king bed rooms are also available.

Premium King Room (38.0sqm)

Premium Club Floors are located on floors 29-31. If you stay on the Premium Club Floor and the Royal Floor on the 32nd floor, you can enjoy a higher grade of service and more comfortable stay, such as check-in and check-out at the Premium Club Lounge.

Renovated in October 2016, the guest room is a modern structure incorporating a washroom in the living room. I thought the room was unified with calm colors and somehow made me feel warm and gentle. Some rooms have balconies.

Breakfast

You can choose between Western and Japanese breakfast. In the case of Western-style breakfast, a buffet breakfast will be served at Panorama 33 “Sky Banquet” on the 33rd floor. The dynamic Tokyo Tower can be seen from the windows spreading across the entire venue, reminding you that you are in Tokyo. Looking down from the window, you can also see the entire view of Zojoji Temple and the Tokyo Sky Tree in the distance. With this wonderful breakfast room, even if your room is not on the Tokyo Tower side, you can fully enjoy the “closest hotel to Tokyo Tower”.

The buffet menu offers a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, regardless of genre, and each dish is labeled on the plate with information on allergenic ingredients, vegan and halal options, so that everyone can enjoy their meal with peace of mind.

If you prefer a Japanese breakfast, you can have a Japanese breakfast set at the Japanese restaurant “Shibazakura” on the first floor. It is good to have a relaxing breakfast in a calm Japanese atmosphere.

In addition to breakfast at these restaurants, you can also order American breakfast, Continental breakfast, or Japanese breakfast dishes at the in-room dining room. Breakfast at the restaurants is served from 7:00 a.m., but in-room dining can be served from 6:00 a.m. for Western-style meals, which is helpful for early departure days for golf (reservations must be made by 11:00 p.m. the day before).

Premium Club Lounge

As mentioned above, guests staying on Premium Club and Royal floors have access to the Premium Club Lounge on the 33rd floor. As you can see, every seat has a good view of the outside, but I recommend the corner seat on the far left side of the lounge, where you can enjoy the panoramic Tokyo view from two windows all to yourself. During cocktail hours (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM), how about spending a relaxing time while enjoying the changing sunset view?

Drinks and snacks, including alcohol, are always available during lounge hours, but during cocktail hours, there is a wider selection of alcohol and hot meals are also available.

Facilities

Prince Shiba Park

The Prince Park Tower Tokyo is located within Shiba Park, but there is a “Prince Shiba Park” on the hotel grounds (complicated, isn’t it?). Walking along the promenade planted with cherry blossoms and roses from the hotel, you will find an expanse of lawn, and of course, a great photo spot with a perfect view of Tokyo Tower. This area is open to guests of the hotel as well. In the evening, there were many young people relaxing on the lawn to enjoy the view, but in the morning there are fewer people, so you may be able to lie down in the middle of the lawn and have the spectacular view all to yourself.

Restaurants & Bars

The Prince Park Tower Tokyo offers seven restaurants (Western, Japanese, Chinese, and teppanyaki), three bars, a cafe lounge, a pastry store, a bakery store, and many other options. Even for Japanese cuisine, there is a wide variety, including kaiseki, sushi, tempura, and yakitori, a lineup that will keep you coming back no matter how many nights you stay.

Others

There is also a “Lawson” convenience store, so it is nice to be able to complete a little shopping on the premises (open 7:00-23:00). There is also a bowling salon for families and friends to enjoy together, and an electric tuk-tuk rental service recommended for tours around the area.

Access & Around the hotel

Access

By train, the nearest station is Akabanebashi on the Toei Subway Oedo Line. It takes about 2 minutes on foot from the Akabanebashi exit to the hotel’s south entrance. It is also about a 3-minute walk from Exit A4 of the Toei Mita Line “Shiba Koen”.

There is also a free shuttle bus service from nearby Hamamatsucho Station on the JR and Tokyo Monorail lines.

About the area around the hotel

While there are plenty of restaurant options within the hotel, you may wonder if you would like to have dinner outside the hotel. The hotel is located in Shiba Park, an area where you can feel the greenery even though you are in the city. It is close enough to Tokyo Tower, the symbol of Tokyo, and Zojoji Temple, the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and the family temple of the Tokugawa family, that you can visit them whenever the mood strikes you.

But it is true that there are not many restaurants around the hotel. But don’t worry. There are several taxis waiting at the south entrance for dinner, and if you stretch your legs a little further, you can find many more. If you walk toward Keio University at the Akabanebashi intersection, you will have plenty of choices. I walked from the hotel to Azabudai Hills the next day and it took less than 20 minutes. If you take a cab, you can get there in about 5-6 minutes, so I think dinner at the popular Azabudai Hills is a good option.

How was your stay? While it is convenient and attractive to stay in a downtown area just one step outside, we have introduced “The Prince Park Tower Tokyo,” a hotel that is an oasis in the city where you can enjoy your stay because of its location. We hope you will find it useful for your trip.
