The Miyako Hotel Hakata catches your eye as you exit the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station. It occupies the 3rd to 13th floors of the Kintetsu Hakata Building, a 13-story building with two basement levels. Opened in September 2019, this hotel is a genuine “high quality hotel” that meets all the requirements set by Fukuoka City in terms of “spaciousness,” “quality,” and “design”.
All guest rooms are over 30 square meters in size, with “spacious” rooms, “high quality” facilities such as restaurants, bars, lounges, swimming pools, and large public baths, and “design” that allows guests to be in contact with greenery and water even in the heart of the city, all of which are attractive.
Access
Directly connected to Hakata Station and 15 minutes from the airport, it is truly an outstanding location.
The building is conveniently located just a minute’s walk from the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station even when walking on the ground, and it is directly connected to the concourse of the Fukuoka City Subway Hakata Station by an underground passageway, so you can get around without getting wet even on rainy days.
Two subway lines, the Airport Line and the Nanakuma Line, are available, making it easy to access major Fukuoka sightseeing spots such as Tenjin and Ohori Park from Miyako Hotel Hakata. In addition, Hakata Station is home to a number of shopping and dining complexes, so you can enjoy shopping and dining near the hotel.
Guest Room
This time I stayed in the entry category [Superior Twin (30-31 square meters)]. Miyako Hotel Hakata is committed to guest room comfort, and all rooms are over 30 square meters in size.
The interior design elegantly expresses natural elements that evoke the Miyako Hotel brand concept of “delicate care and cultivated dignity and tradition,” in pursuit of a comfortable atmosphere where guests can relax and forget the hustle and bustle of the city while staying in the heart of the city.
The designs are wonderful, subtly incorporating regional traditions, such as carpets inspired by the traditional Hakata textile motif of the “Kenjo-gara (pattern)” and Koishiwara-yaki teacups from Asakura, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Bath amenities are Miller Harris. The bathroom is equipped with a washroom, but there is also a large bath on the 13th floor.
Facilities
SPA LUCIDA
With the concept of a “hotel of green, water, and light,” Miyako Hotel Hakata has a variety of greenery arranged three-dimensionally inside and outside the facility. The waterfall flowing from the rooftop, which was dressed from the majestic nature of Kyushu, is also eye-catching.
The spa area “SPA LUCIDA” on the 13th floor is where you can experience the water while feeling such a waterfall up close. The pools and blower bus are filled with natural hot spring water that has been compiled on the premises, and can be enjoyed while wearing a swim suit. House guests can use these facilities free of charge.
The 13th floor is also equipped with separate men’s and women’s large indoor baths (uchiyu). The glass-walled indoor baths allow guests to relax while enjoying the view toward Fukuoka Airport.
The swimming pool is open to everyone, but the large bathhouse is only available for children in diapers. However, children under 120cm in height can only use the mini-pool. Although it is a small space, our children had a good time.
Restaurant / Bar / Lounge
SOMEWHERE RESTAURANT & BAR is located on the same floor as the spa, with a large glass wall creating a sense of openness. This restaurant is suitable for a wide range of occasions from breakfast to dinner.
We were told that we could choose from four breakfast options: American breakfast, Salad & Fruits set, Japanese-style meal, and Hakata udon set. Since we were in Fukuoka, I chose the Hakata udon set and my husband chose the Japanese-style meal. The Japanese meal included Hakata’s famous mentaiko (cod roe) and sesame kanpachi (yellowtail), so it was a good opportunity to enjoy the local flavors.
Miyako Hotel Hakata is conveniently located near Hakata Station, yet the hotel’s premises are a relaxing space that will make you feel as if you are in the heart of the city. Why not stay at the hotel as a base for sightseeing in Fukuoka?
